Summer Sleepaway Camp Blog
Wear Your Camp Gear Week!
1st Week of March!
Wear Your Camp Gear Week
Last week a message appeared on our Facebook page from counselor Tess Theisen, “I’m wearing my camp bracelets again… thinking about not taking them off for a while. It would really do my camp-heart some good “.
That got us talking about the wonderful feelings and memories we have when wearing our camp gear. It’s great to remember all of those camp memories and begin looking forward to this summer.
Thanks to Tess, we want to start a tradition, where for one week alumni, staff and campers, can pull out their camp t-shirt, sweatshirts, bracelets, hats, etc… and wear them with pride. (Please don’t wear your camp t-shirt all week, your mom may not enjoy the smell, better to choose just one day.) What memories come to mind when you put your t-shirt on, or wear so many bracelets it looks like a colorful piece of armor?
Make sure to send us a picture and you may be highlighted in our blog; send your pictures to Doug at dridley@ymcanyc.org.
